Welcome to the Future of Cycling Pedal Performance, Safety & Comfort.

Who would have ever thought of making bicycle pedals shaped like your feet?  We did!

There has never been a safe, comfortable, high performance recreational pedal designed specifically for recumbent bikes and trikes - until now.

Bike Different has taken the next step in the evolution - actually, a revolution - in bicycle pedal design, a complete departure from how all other bike pedals are designed.

Now you can “put your best foot forward” in quite possibly the best pedals ever made for recumbent bikes and trikes.

Every trike rider should have a pair of Full-Foot Pedals on your trike, to keep your feet safely and securely held in place on your pedals, and deliver unparalleled comfort and performance for the ultimate riding experience.

Why Full-Foot Pedals Are the Best Pedals for Your Trike

High Performance.  Full-Foot Pedals are the only lightweight, foot-shaped, contoured, 2-sided pedals designed for recumbent bikes and trikes, custom-made to fit your feet, that deliver full-foot-to-pedal contact and highly efficient power transfer.

Lightweight & Strong.  Full-Foot Pedals are incredibly lightweight, strong and durable.  Pedal platforms and spindles are reinforced with lightweight, high strength carbon fiber-epoxy composite layers, to efficiently transfer power from your feet to the pedals.  Pedal surfaces are coated with clear, ultra-hard UV and scratch-resistant polyurethane to protect against scratches and damage from UV exposure.  Heel cups are made from strong, lightweight color-anodized aluminum alloy.  Arch and heel straps are made from high strength nylon fabric, UV-resistant polyester seatbelt fabric, or supple “vegan leather” cork fabric.

Safe.  Full-Foot Pedals’ adjustable arch straps and heel cups securely hold your feet on your pedals to prevent "Leg Suck", a very dangerous accident that can happen when your foot slips backwards off your pedals while you’re cycling on a delta or tadpole trike, your foot hits the ground while your trike is moving forward, and the crossbar of your trike frame runs over your leg, resulting in a painful leg injury (see videos demonstrating Leg Suck on conventional bike pedals, vs. no Leg Suck on Full-Foot Pedals).  Every trike rider needs to have safe, secure pedals on their trike to prevent Leg Suck from happening.

Comfortable.  With Full-Foot Pedals, you don't need to wear stiff-soled cycling shoes with cleats and clip into your pedals.  You can wear almost any kind of shoes, or no shoes at all.  Adjust the arch straps and heel cups to fit snugly around your shoes, and feel the comfort of your entire foot surface on the entire pedal surface.

Unpadded Full-Foot Pedals give you maximum foot-to-pedal contact and power transfer.  You also have the option to equip your Full-Foot Pedals with padding around the arch straps and heel cups, to provide a more comfortable, safe, and secure fit for your feet on the pedals, while maintaining pedaling performance.  You can select from 2 kinds of padding on your arch straps: "Plush", a velvety soft layer of 1 cm thick memory foam for maximum comfort, or "Performance", a 2 mm thin fabric covered neoprene layer for maximum performance.  Both Plush and Performance arch straps come in a wide variety of colors.

Completely Customizable.  We custom make every pair of Full-Fit Pedals to fit your individual shoe size, with an extensive selection of component options and color preferences to choose from.  All pedal components (platforms, heel cups, straps) come in a wide variety of beautiful vibrant colors you can mix and match to fit your personal style!

You can even get Full-Foot Pedals in glow-in-the-dark colors!  NightGlow-colored Full-Foot Pedals can help increase your visibility and safety when riding in low-light conditions, but they need to be exposed to ultraviolet light from direct sunlight or other UV light sources to make them glow in the dark.  Leave your Full-Foot Pedals out in the sun for about an hour at the end of the day, and your pedals will light your way on your ride home!

Take These Steps to Order Your Full-Foot Pedals

Enter Your Bike Shoe Measurements

Please measure the length of the soles on the bottom of your bike shoes, from the tip of your toe to the tip of your heel, with a tape measure.  Please do not enter your shoe size, because your shoe size is not the same as your shoe sole length.

Please measure the width of the heels on the soles of your bike shoes at their widest point.

Please see picture below that shows how to measure your shoe sole length and heel width.

Please enter your bike shoe measurements (shoe sole length and heel width) from the drop-down lists below.  If your shoe length falls in between the 1/2" measurements, we recommend selecting the next size DOWN.  As long as your feet are centered on the pedal platforms, it's OK if your shoes are slightly longer than the pedals.  If your shoe heel width falls in between the 1/4" measurements, we recommend selecting the next size UP, to make sure your shoes will fit in the heel cups.  By entering your bike shoe measurements, you can be sure your Full-Foot Pedals will fit your bike shoes PERFECTLY.

Select Your Favorite Colors

Please select your favorite colors for your pedal platforms, arch straps, heel straps, and heel cups from the drop-down lists below.  You can select arch straps and heel straps made from either nylon and polyester fabric, or "vegan leather" cork fabric.  Nylon and polyester straps provide a more snug, high performance fit, whereas supple cork fabric straps provide a more relaxed, comfortable fit.  Nylon and polyester fabric straps are available in colors marked with 1 asterisk*.  Cork fabric straps are available in colors marked with 2 asterisks**.

Ride With or Without Arch Straps or Heel Cups

If you are riding on any kind of 3-wheel trike, we highly recommend getting arch straps and heel cups with heel straps on your trike, to hold your feet securely on your pedals and prevent Leg Suck.  Just check "Yes" when asked if you'd like Arch Straps, Heel Cups, and Heel Straps on Your Full-Foot Pedals.

If you are riding on any kind of 2-wheel bicycle, we recommend getting Full-Foot Pedals with arch straps, to keep your feet centered on the pedals and allow your feet to "float" (rotate laterally).  However, we recommend bike riders ride on Full-Foot Pedals without heel cups or heel straps, so you can quickly and easily take your feet off the pedals and put your feet down at a stop.  Just check "Yes" when asked if you'd like arch straps, and "No" when asked if you'd like Heel Cups and Heel Straps on Your Full-Foot Pedals.

Protect Your Pedals with PolyShield

For those riders who need stronger, tougher pedals that can really take a beating, we now offer Full-Foot Pedals with PolyShield.  PolyShield technology adds a layer of clear, tough, durable, ultra-hard, UV- and scratch-resistant polyurethane topcoat to the carbon fiber surface of your pedals, to provide powerful protection against strong cyclic loading forces and damage from impacts, scratches, and harmful UV rays.  If your pedals endure prolonged exposure to sunlight, you’re a heavier rider, you ride through rugged terrain, you like to pound on your pedals, or if you ever pedal with any dirt on your shoes that could easily scratch the pedal surfaces, then you need PolyShield protection on your pedals.

Thanks for selecting Full-Foot Pedals for your bike or trike.  You're gonna LOVE riding with the comfort, safety and performance of these innovative new pedals!

Any Francis Duncan mystery is a joy
Format: Paperback
As a lover of classic British mysteries, my chance discovery of this author from the mid-20th Century has been a real joy. Every page keeps my interest, which I cannot say about many mysteries I read by well-regarded authors. Duncan's books are also not guilty of that staple of modern mysteries that I am getting so weary of: a detective drowning in their personal angst, fighting emotional slings and arrows, and of course, a tragic love life, etc, which takes up so much of the bulk of his or her attention. Duncan's Miss Marple-like character Mordecai Tremaine is in many ways a very ordinary type of person, but he is able to blend in with quite different types of social groups; groups which fester with secrets, lies and a hidden murderer...until Tremaine untangles it all in his unassuming but brilliant way. He does it by observing people as much as by physical clues, which is similar to the Agatha Christie approach. This mystery, "Murder for Christmas" was not the typical "murder at a country house at Christmas" mystery which I thought it would be. It was quite surprising, startling, enthralling, and a joy to read.

Delightful Golden Age Mystery
Format: Paperback
Retired tobacconist Mordecai Tremaine is invited to a Christmas house party by a man he doesn't know well. He chooses to go, because of the intriguing postscript stating that "something was wrong" in the household. That something was most definitely wrong was proven when a dead Father Christmas was discovered under the tree on Christmas Eve. Mordecai uses his sharp eye and keen reasoning to investigate his fellow house guests to determine the motive and method of the crime. This was a delightful mystery, with an engaging protagonist and a well imagined cast of characters. The mystery itself was intelligent, believable, and nicely plotted. Duncan's writing wasn't perfect; there were repeated phrases and the occasional awkward sentence. Despite that, I would most definitely recommend this nearly forgotten Golden Age mystery. I will most certainly be reading more of Mordecai's adventures.

Bit of a snore
Format: Kindle
Mordecai Tremaine is a retired tobacconist and an amateur detective. He is invited to spend Christmas with an acquaintance in a country manor house who specifically tempts Mordecai Tremaine by hinting at a threat. This story has a period feel to it with servants, snow, secrets, and murder. The pacing is laborious. I hoped that the pace would improve when a murdered person in a Father Christmas suit is found on the floor in front of the Christmas tree. Alas, it was not to be. The character list is very long, and the characters are not well developed. This is the first book in a series featuring Mordecai Tremaine (who is only referred to by last and first names). I have a soft spot for British mysteries, including period British mysteries like those by Ngaio Marsh. While the mystery has its twists and turns as Mordecai Tremaine investigates to assist the police, it never quite clicked for me. I am not likely to read any of the other books in the series.

Enjoyable Classic mystery
Format: Kindle
I am an avid fan of vintage mysteries, and “English country house” mysteries are among my very favorites in that genre. I enjoyed this one very much and was pleased to see that there were two others available and a couple more being published. This book was my idea of a terrific cozy type mystery, and I enjoyed it very much. The Christmas setting added to its appeal. Mordecai Tremayne, the detective in this story is just eccentric enough to be interesting without being stereotyped. He observes people, and makes deductions based on these observations, along with his knowledge of human nature. In retrospect, he is almost a bit like male version of Miss Marple, although this did not strike me as a I read the book. This was a fun book to while away a few hours, and I look forward to reading others in this series. Highly recommended for fans of vintage mysteries, and cozies.

Leaves You Wanting More
I read about this novel right after Christmas, but I decided to order it anyway. It was not supposed to arrive until some time in February, so I was pleasantly surprised when I received it within a few days of my order. With the snow finally falling in the Chicago area, I knew this would be a good time to read this book. The book begins with a summary of the case with somewhat overwrought language. However, as it moves on to the characters, it becomes more successful. It is important to remember that the novel was written in the 1940s, which means that we have a world that is slower paced than the 21st century. Of course we are looking at a wealthier segment of society in rural England, but this pace allows us to study the scenery and the characters more carefully. This is a world with a mansion that can house a number of guests for Christmas with these guests being able to stay over a few days with a pleasant host. The characters are mostly forgettable with the major exception of Mordecai Tremaine as the amateur detective who helps solve the case. He is a character who is unforgettable. The ending is well plotted, and it leaves the taste of a delicious Christmas dinner in the mouth of the reader. The author, Francis Duncan, wrote in the 1930s and 1940s, and this is the first book of his to be republished. I can only hope that other books by this author will be republished as well and republished soon or at least in time for me to read them by next Christmas. Without knowing anything about his other books, it would be nice to think that I could have other seasonal stories waiting for me in the future. The ending still remains in my mind, even several weeks after I have read the book. It would be delicious to meet Mordecai Tremaine again.
